Benjamin Tietz

Founder of BTECH SOLUTIONS

I build and operate software that stays in production — from the Angular frontend through the Django API to the server it runs on. Before that: a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia and a rental business of my own in Croatia.

Not a straight path. But a deliberate one.

At 28 I emigrated to Southeast Asia with a one-way ticket and a backpack and stayed for almost two years; that is where I met my wife. In 2014 I went ahead to Croatia on my own and built up a holiday rental business — almost eight years in operation, run jointly from 2015, sold at the end of 2021.

That is where the software started, too, with a problem from my own operation: several booking channels sell the same inventory, and if you don't keep them in sync you get double bookings. So my first larger web project was the business's WordPress site, connected to a PMS to keep the channels aligned.

My route into software didn't run through a degree. After that came industrial quality assurance and high-voltage testing — environments where mistakes cost money, not just a failed build. Alongside it I taught myself to program, layer by layer: frontend, backend, Linux, CI/CD, DevSecOps — deliberately, not by accident.

BTECH SOLUTIONS is my own company, not my employer: I founded it and run it on my own. Alongside it, ThaiKickStarter Europe, founded jointly — German-Thai business development. What I build I keep operating afterwards; AI-assisted workflows are part of the craft, and responsibility for the code stays with me.

Background

Emigrated at 28, ran a rental business of my own in Croatia from 2014 to 2021, then industrial quality assurance and high-voltage testing. My understanding of reliability comes from environments where mistakes cost money — not just a failed deployment.

How I work

I start with constraints, not features. Security, observability, and maintainability are architecture decisions from commit one — not something bolted on before release.

What sets me apart

At BTECH SOLUTIONS you talk directly to the developer who plans, builds, and then maintains your system — no agency layers, no handoffs. I work across the full stack: Angular, Django, Docker, CI/CD, and self-hosted bare metal infrastructure.

Thailand Vloggers

Thailand Vloggers

Own productIn operationRole: Solo build

Live Thailand platform with pre-rendered content, creator discovery, local favourites, and community areas.

Problem

Delivering many content pages quickly and discoverably, keeping them current, and offering creator and community features on a dependable data layer requires more than a content-only website.

Solution

Angular serves the public content, creator, and community surfaces quickly and in a search-readable form; the Django backend and cron jobs keep the data current. Creator discovery and local favourites are publicly usable, while further community features are expanded step by step. Part of the BTECH ecosystem.

BTECH Solutions

Own productIn operationRole: Solo build

The company's own site, bilingual and server-side pre-rendered — a reference for the full stack.

Problem

An agency website needs to rank technically, load fast, and hold up on content — without sacrificing architecture for marketing requirements.

Solution

Angular 21 with SSR/SSG, Transloco for DE/EN, OnPush throughout, structured data, and SEO architecture from day one. Verifiable in the delivered HTML: hreflang, canonicals, and JSON-LD are in the source.

ThaiKickStarter Europe

Own productIn operationRole: Team project

Platform for Thai entrepreneurs in Europe — delivered in German, English, and Thai. Founded jointly.

Problem

Anyone founding a business in Europe from Thailand finds offerings almost exclusively in German or English. A translation added later is not enough — the audience has to be addressed in its own language.

Solution

A standalone Angular site that delivers every page in German, English, and Thai, with Thai as an equal language rather than an add-on. Plus a trilingual image film carrying the AI disclosure required by Article 50 of the EU AI Act.

Hoehenwerk

Höhenwerk

Concept studyIn operationRole: Solo build

Concept study — not a real offering.

Fictional concept example for a local leisure provider — bilingual, pre-rendered, with simulated booking and voucher flows.

Problem

A local leisure provider needs to communicate prices, courses, and booking paths quickly while remaining visible in regional search.

Solution

A distinct Angular SSG brand combines course navigation, a scroll-driven film, a virtual assistant, and fully simulated booking and voucher flows. Höhenwerk is explicitly not a client project and not a real rope course park.

Concept studyIn operationRole: Solo build

Concept study — not a real offering.

Concept study for a fictional property: fast SSG landing page with image gallery and local SEO.

Problem

What does the web presence of a high-end property look like — fast, visually clear, locally discoverable? The study answers that on an invented property.

Solution

Static Angular SSG site with a responsive image gallery, contact section, and local SEO markup, served via Nginx. Property and content are samples — not a client engagement and not a real offering.

Lease Loop

Concept studyIn operationRole: Team project

Concept study — not a real offering.

Concept study for a three-part rental system: public booking site, admin interface for the operator, and a Django backend.

Contribution and origin

My contribution: Fullstack development.

Problem

Anyone renting out accommodation needs two things: a fast public booking site, and one place where occupancy, payments, and requests come together — instead of scattered spreadsheets and email threads.

Solution

Three parts on one data layer: a statically served booking site, a client-side Angular application for administration, and a Django backend underneath. Concept study — not a client engagement.

Videoflix

Learning projectCompletedRole: Team project

End-to-end streaming architecture: async HLS transcoding, adaptive playback, Django backend with a Celery pipeline.

Contribution and origin

My contribution: Implementation of the frontend, the backend, and the transcoding pipeline.

Design: Developer Akademie

Design is protected by copyright and shown here as a reference.

Problem

Video streaming requires async encoding, efficient storage, and adaptive delivery — the architecture needs to support this from the ground up.

Solution

Django backend with Celery and Redis for background transcoding, HLS for adaptive streams, and an Angular frontend for playback and management.
